House Numbers in Wood From Hillsigns
I make each house number by hand. The wood is all from the grounds around Hillsigns. I use apple, leylandii, chestnut and cherry. The wood has been cut down for at least a year and allowed to dry slowly. It sis then sliced using an electric \chain saw or circular saw and the best slices allowed to dry further. Only then do I choose the right piece to suit the cuctomers house number and I agree this with them before proceeding.
One customer kindly told me, "we are very pleased with the sign you made for us. It is lovely! Quality product ! 😁"
The wood is sanded carefully and then the number cut deeply into the wood using a CNC machine that has been programmed to exactly mee the customer's design.
After more sandining the wood is varnished with 2 to 3 coats of exterior grade varnish. The number itself is then painted using the colour chosen and a further 2 to 3 coats of varnish added. This process can take a few days.
Finally the house numbe is carefully wrapped and packed with suitable screws if required and sent to you.
Its your slice of nature. No air miles, eco-friendly and from a totally sustainable source, the tree aroud Hillsigns in Wales.
