Custom Made Plaque Plinth

This plinth is designed to be the base for a sculpture of a Robin. The wood is leylandii which is 30 to 35 years old and was grown here at Hillsigns. I make a slice of the wood using a battery chain saw and then sand to a high quality finish. The bark is carefully retained using an adhesive wash. The words required by the customer were cut by the CNC machine and then carfully painted in black. The wood was then finished with two coats of Danish Oil and then finally a wax coating to protect the finish. The base was covered with a soft felt cover.
The plinth is for indoor use. It is an example of using the natural products around me to make a beautiful object for a customer.
