I was delighted to make this combination of planter and oak memorial signs for my customer. Bringing his ideas into reality was such a pleasure. My customer had the idea to create a memorial waterfall and had had a stainless steel water ramp designed and made. I then had to make the planter fit this. He also wanted his Father's name above the water fall carved into solid oak signs planted into the planter. The end result is stunning and a great memorial.
The oak is sourced from a local supplier near to me. The CNC machine is run very slowly to get a very neat cut and prevent any burring. Then it has to be sanded and varnished 5 to 6 times. The black lettering is painted after the second coat of varnish.
Finally I made two stakes which were also varnished ready to fix to the back of the signs.
The planter was made from all re-purposed timber and made to a specific shape requested by my customer. The front was made with a shelf and gap for the stainless steel water feature.
The end result is a touching and personal tribute to my customer's Father that will last for many years.
