On a trip to Aber Falls this week in north west Wales we took along Colin the cat. He is only 10 weeks old and this was his second outing with the dogs, Meg and Albert, having been to Beachy Head a week ago. Colin attracted more than his fair share of attention. People commented that they had seen cats on leads on the internet but never in real life.
Colin could jog along well with the dogs but was waylaid each time we reached a tree which he insisted on climbing.
He was carried a fair bit of the way along the 4km or so route.
Aber Falls is 37m high and is formed as the Afon Goch plunges over an rock sill. There were clear signs of wind damage to the trees in the area and, sadly, examples of severe ash die back. The woodland is managed. The alders trees are coppiced approximately every ten years. The cut wood is converted into charcoal.
