This tree stump was lifted from of River Severn last spring and the mud cleaned off with a power wash.
Nothing else was done to the tree stump except to ship it to my customer who had plans for it.
Over the course of about 6 weeks he carved, filed with a rasp and trimmed and polished the stump. Nooks and crevices were filled and then stained to merge them with the rest of the tree stump.
The hardest part was ensuring the surfaces onto which the glass table top was to be fitted were level between each supporting point.
The tree stump was varnished with a satin finish clear varnish.
My customer then added small suction pads before lowering on the tempered glass top.
This beautiful piece of furniture is certainly something for him to be proud of and will no doubt become a family heirloom. What an ending for an old tree stump I dragged from the river Severn.
I asked my customer if he was pleased with it. "Yes" he said, "but I won't be doing another one in a hurry!".
